--------------------Welcome!

The Lord has blessed our family greatly both through adoption and birth. And because there are so many personalities in our family there is much to think about. This blog is a way to put some of those thoughts down and share our journey.

I hope that my words spur you on, encourage you on a so-so day, and point you to the Lord.

Some fun....

Nathan loves to swing. One push and he is delighted.

One of Nathan's favorite things to do is walk around with someone. Luckily there are several people willing to indulge him.

We are finding our groove here and enjoying being together as a family. Everyone continues to be delighted with their new little brother.

Over a Month!

Wow, funny how time seems so different on this side of the adoption. We have had Nathan home for over a month and in many ways it seems like he was always here. We held him in our hearts for so long that it takes some thinking to think back when we were still waiting.

When we were waiting for Nathan it seemed like time stood still, the clock never changed, the calendar page never turned, you get the picture. But now that he is here time just flies like always. We are so very thankful that he was able to come home as quickly as he did, we are so very thankful for the many, many prayers that were prayed on his behalf. We are so thankful that we serve a God that answers prayer, though not always in the way we would like, always in the way that is best for us - He sees the WHOLE picture!

Each time we have welcomed a child home there has always been a period of adjustment. We are doing well as a family. We are finding a routine, as much as you can amidst summer activities.

We have seen changes in Nathan already. When we welcomed him into our arms he didn't really sit up for more than a few seconds and he was attempting to do an army crawl. Now he sits up for as long as he wants, crawls everywhere, and just this weekend we had to move the crib mattress down because he is attempting (and often succeeding) to pull up on anything he thinks he can use. He is quite a delight to all of us! We are so thankful that the Lord brought him into our family!

I had forgotten:
that the new little milestones are so exciting
how heavy infant carseats are
that I have to plan ahead - McDonalds on the run does not have baby food.
how much baby food to buy
that feeding a a little one is a messy job
that a baby in a grocery cart takes up a lot of space
we have to make sure there are no little things on the floor
What's new:
Everything through the eyes of a young child
Nathan is crawling everywhere - gotta watch where you walk!
He sits up constantly and loves to play with his basket of toys
When you put a blanket near him he crawls over and rubs his face on it.
Cheerios and Puffs
His two top teeth are just through his gums
our dog, Sophie, is on guard - Nathan is delighted with her tail
tiny socks in the wash
Some things I hope never to forget:
That the Lord went before us each step of the way as we brought Nathan home.
It is wonderful to have him home!
His smile when he sees one of his family members
Slobbery kisses
Squeals of delight when playing with his siblings
How he looks when he is sleeping
